Knowledge Heaven – A Treasure of Learning
The college library, aptly titled Knowledge Heaven, stands as the heart of Dewan Bahadur Padmarao Mudaliar Degree and Post Graduate College for Women’s academic journey. Established in 1982, the year the college began its mission of empowering women through education, the library has grown into a rich and vibrant center of learning and inspiration.
From a modest beginning with a few hundred books, Knowledge Heaven has expanded its collection to over 30,000 volumes, continually updated to meet the evolving demands of students and faculty. Each academic year, new books, general reading material, and weekly magazines are added to ensure that the library remains a dynamic and current resource for all learners.
Under the supervision of a qualified librarian, Knowledge Heaven has evolved from a small single-room setup into a spacious, organized, and resourceful center of knowledge. It caters primarily to students of the Arts, Commerce, and Post Graduate streams, providing materials that support the academic curriculum as well as promote reading beyond the classroom.
The collection holds a wide range of textbooks and reference works designed to meet curriculum requirements and supplement classroom teaching. Specialized materials are available for M.Com and M.A (English) programs, enabling postgraduate students to engage in deeper learning and research. Books on general knowledge, personality development, and career guidance are also available to help students prepare for competitive examinations and professional pursuits.
Knowledge Heaven houses valuable reference sources such as The New Encyclopedia Britannica, McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, and International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences, along with various subject-based dictionaries and encyclopedias.
The library’s modernization began in 2005 with the implementation of NEWGENLIB Software (Version 3.2), making the entire collection accessible through a digital catalog. Barcoding for books and library cards has streamlined the issue and return process, providing efficient and organized access to the collection.
True to its name, Knowledge Heaven serves as a sanctuary for students and faculty alike—a place where curiosity thrives, knowledge grows, and wisdom blossoms. It continues to uphold the vision of the institution by fostering intellectual growth, supporting research, and inspiring lifelong learning among generations of women scholars.

Library is open on all Working Days. It functions from 9:30 AM to 4: 00 PM.
LIBRARY MEMBERSHIPS
The Library is primarily for the use of the teaching faculty, non-teaching staff and student of the college. A new entrant must enroll at the circulation counter by filling the prescribed form.
